MY STORY

Hello.
Before you buy our bags, let me tell you a bit about Lily, my inspiration.
I was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2020,  several months after Lady, my beautiful black rescue  Lab had died at the ripe old age of 15. I was struggling and desperately wanted a dog. One day, I saw on Instagram this old, bald, very sick dog, up for fostering. I literally felt my heart  expand. I guess... it was love at first sight. I felt I just had to foster that dog. So I called my husband and said, "Listen, there's this sick dog. Let's foster her, nurse her back to health, and help the animal shelter find her a good home."
Famous last words…
The shelter brought me the dog that same day. No one else had offered to foster her but me (because I'm crazy).
She jumped out of the car and she smelled like death. That's how sick she was. She was bald, full of sores, and her skin was burning hot. Even my vet told me I was crazy.
Taking care of Lily was challenging. She'd been abandoned in the desert, where she wandered for years. By the time she was rescued, she was on her last leg. And… she was territorial, aggressive, and unpredictable. But she didn't touch my cats (I have 11) and that was a point in her favor. She was also insanely loyal to me from day one and incredibly sweet, after she calmed down a bit. And so so smart.
I honestly meant to find her a home, but… I couldn't. I fell in love and found my best friend. I started documenting our journey through little illustrations and short stories. After a while, I decided to create tote bags and mugs and key chains and cases and…. maybe I'll write a book one day.
And that's how "Lily and Me" started.
